ELITE TEAM, TOP VOCALIST, LEADING/CAST ROLES, MUSIC VIDEOS & SHORT FILM

CRITERIA, NOMINATIONS, AWARDS, & DETAILS

To participate in these unique opportunities, meet all the requirements listed below:

  1. Eligibility & Participation Requirements:
  • Have a regional elite team or cast nomination, or be a nationals vocal or leading role winner
  • Regionally nominated casts, national vocalist, or leading role winners receive placement on the elite team
  • Attend nationals with your school and pay the required minimum entry fees (directors, see Directors Only page for details)
  • Ensure a working member of your school (not a parent) attends the competition Participation in recordings, music videos, films, showcases, and rehearsals is free, but requires national entry fees, elite team T-shirt, and additional costuming needed for filming.
  1. Costume Requirements:
  • Purchase and indicate sizes for showcase elite team shirts
  • Directors must order and pay for all showcase T-shirts at least 29 days before the event
  • Limited T-shirts will be available at the event, without the elite team print
  • Additional details on showcase costumes, make-up, and hair will be in the nationals packet NATIONAL PACKET (COMING SOON)
  • Details for Music Video and Short Film costumes, make-up, and hair will be in the school’s pre-event itinerary.
  1. Filming Schedule:
  • Filming will occur during Nationals
  • Regionally nominated elite team, cast, previous season vocal & leading role winners must be available throughout the entire event
  • This includes the day before the Nationals start date for “Rehearsal” and the day after for “Filming” (if needed; details TBD)
  • Lunch will be provided on the day of filming
  • Participants may be required to travel to selected locations within a 45-minute radius of the Nationals venue on the day of filming (If needed; details TBD)
  1. Participation Details:
  • Participation in the elite team showcase performance does not require filming
  • Notify your directors before Nationals about your participation in filming, the showcase, or both
  • Directors must inform TE with all details at the specified email janine@thatsentertainmentpa.com
  • If filming, you must attend all related rehearsals and the showcase
  1. Rehearsals and Workshops:
  • Dancers, singers, and actors participating in the showcase and films must attend all relevant rehearsals
  • Free choreography-based workshops and a Hip-Hop Intensive (for a fee) are offered and featured in the National Finals Showcase, which you may also participate in
  • Attendance in workshops, intensives, and rehearsals signifies your commitment to the showcase rehearsal and final performance (T-shirt purchase required)
  1. Learning Opportunities:
  • Nominees and award recipients are given a glimpse of the entertainment industry
  • They must perform their best when filming to ensure they are featured in the final edit
  1. Music Production and Editing:
  • Releases require producer or editor approval
  • Release dates are typically between October and February following the Nationals
  • Vocal winners record their free single between November and April, with a release before the next Nationals
  • Music videos and short films will be filmed during the Nationals
  1. Release Announcements:
  • Music videos and short film release dates or teasers will be shared on social media
  • Follow our YouTube page and social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube) for updates and to watch the releases

All participants should follow these steps to maximize opportunities & gain experience in the entertainment industry.

Nationals Top SR Vocalist Criteria & Awards

  • Nationals Top scoring SR (13-18yrs) vocalist within the shooting or all-star levels will receive an award record, a free original single, and a music video sponsored by Spark Evolution, which will be filmed at the next nationals and showcased live
  • There must be five or more routines fitting the criteria for this to be awarded
  • The winner may participate in the cast of our short film and dance with the elite team
  • Music videos will feature social awareness topics and PSAs

SHORT FILM Leading/Cast Roles Criteria & Awards

Regional & Nationals Criteria:

  • Open to SR’s (13-18yrs) competing in solo or duet/trio, at the shooting or all-star levels, and in the acting or musical theatre genres
  • Speaking role awarded and featured in our next short film or music video skit (Judges choice)

Regionals:

Nominees win a certificate, a speaking role in our next short film, a music video skit,
and more. Judges may select one or more competitors, provided the event includes routines that
meet specified requirements.

Nationals:

Leading roles receive a TE Oscar and the lead in next season’s short film or music video if they attend the following season’s Nationals and meet specific criteria, including having at least five qualifying routines.

TE ELITE TEAM CRITERIA & AWARDS

Dancers aged 9 to an adult who compete in solos at the shooting or all-star level in any dance genre can receive a nomination for the Elite Team. Nominees receive a certificate and can appear in a music video or short film dance scene.
